ABOUT

THE AUTHOR/ARTIST/DESIGNER

Carrie started her Graphic Design & Illustration Studio (The Graphic Garden) in 1996 and is currently based in Fort Langley British Columbia. Her dog “Fender” comes to work with her everyday, and together they design logos, print & packaging material, hand painted projects, window paintings, murals, illustrations... everything creative!  Since Carrie previously designed Elizabeth’s logo & print pieces over the years, she was very happy to create this children’s book, helping to raise money for Elizabeth’s Wildlife Center & Animal Rescues.  IT'S CALLED WILDLIFE RESCUE STORIES!  Hope you enjoy it!

JUST JUMP IN!!

HOW THIS BOOK CAME TO BE . . .

(making lemonade out of lemons!) I've always wanted to make a children's book… But it always fell into the “I'll do it someday” column.  Then an opportunity came up to create illustrations for a fundraiser book about Elizabeth's WILDLIFE CENTER!  I’m a huge animal lover and was very excited to create this for Elizabeth.  I’ve known her for about 20 years and she deserves this 100%!  I completed everything in time for the deadline, but unfortunately, the project fell through and I was heart broken.

Here's where the Lemonade gets made... A NEGATIVE... INTO A POSITIVE!  I was forced to decide… do I take this challenge?  Write a new book with MY OWN STORIES?  I could create some fun, learning rhymes about animals in need!  So I went for it!  Although it didn't begin exactly how I thought,  It forced me to JUMP!  To take a chance and make it happen!  I'm glad for it now...  And I did it! –  and I got “by with a little help from my friends!”  It goes to show - you can do anything you put your mind to.  So if you get the chance to do something great  -  try it!    You  just  might  like  it.  :)

MY DOG FENDER

This is Fender. (or a drawing of him) he told me he wanted a page about him in the book for being such a good boy - so i said yes of course.  he's very patient while i'm working... and loves to play when I'm done!

He knows lots of tricks - and HE'S even a tiny bit famous!  you can see his cute face on the canadian naturals (pORK & bROWN RICE) dog food packaging designed right here too!
